James Buyea is currently the Director Of Information Technology & Distance Education at USC The Business College
Jim is a senior executive at his college and currently manages all aspects of technology, distance education, and audio video for USC The Business College's three campuses. He Directs and coordinates the activities of the IT department that is engaged in academic systems, computer operations, networking, help desk, web applications, computer lab support, desk top, training, and database administration.
With oversight of USC's Distance education, Jim has been able to evaluate and guide USC's distance education department improving retention by 11% and growing participation by 5%. At the same time Jim has coordinated and had oversight of growing the number of courses offered by USC Online over 15%.
Jim has over 25 years of professional business and technical experience including 19 years experience in the use, application, and support of computer technology in fast pace business environments. He has developed and instructed courses in computer technology, business management, and entrepreneurship. He has also performed consultation on network design, and has provided strategic technology planning and support for small business in the areas of security, networking, business integration and management practices.
Jim has conducted primary and secondary research in the areas of ID theft, Internet Safety, Wireless networking, e-marketing, and has presented on numerous topics across the country including a co-presentation of a 16 hour seminar in e-commerce across New York State for the New York State Small Business Development Centers.
Recently Jim researched and implemented a stand alone Virtual Campus environment allowing USC to cost effectively bring online courses to students around the world.
Jim is currently assisting in the Middle States Accreditation at USC, leading the implementation of a new WAN, and course development.
From 1981 to 1992 Jim managed his own business providing a strong background in business management. Jim's expertise in technology combined with his business management experience allows him to assist others in strategic implementation of technology into the business environment.
Jim's research interests are in the areas of analytical marketing, e-commerce, and wireless technology, and security which has provided the resources to support clients in the fast paced changing world of business in the new millennium.
